Day 4 of the 21 Day Fix Challenge is complete and I'm loving it. Today's workout was Pilates Fix. I've always been curious about Pilates but I never tried it.
All of these workouts are done on your mat. Yay it means no worrying about the neighbors. I'm still a bit sore from my other workouts, unfornutately my muscle recovery is slow because of other health issues, but I stuck to it and finished each one.
So what can you expect with Pilates Fix? A lot of core work! I've always struggled with exercising my core muscles. I never really felt the burn until I started doing this challenge. This workout was divided into 4 rounds with 15 second breaks between exercises. They alternate between different types of planks and cruches, leg raises, etc. The exercises force you to concentrate and your breathing and form. You need to keep your abdominal muscles contracted while your doing them, otherwise not only are you doing them wrong but the wrong muscle groups get tired. It also got my heart rate up and I broke a sweat. The breaks were short enough between exercises to keep my heart pumping.
Another benefit of the Pilates Fix is flexibility! Flexibility is essential in fitness and these exercises definitely help with that. Along with flexibility I also got to stretch some of those muscle groups that are still sore from earlier workouts, so I expect to be feeling a lot less sore in the morning. Yet again, the workout lasted 30 minutes which is perfect to squeeze it in at anytime. No excuses.
Tomorrow I'll be doing Cardio Fix. Definitely looking forward to breaking a sweat!
